McConnell Inn

The Mcconnell Inn is named for it's original owner, John McConnell, who built the home for his family residence. It was completed, after 2 years of construction, in 1900.

Through the years, it had been passed down to family members. The property was for sale for the first time in 1971. By 1979, 5 students from Ripon College owned the house and dubbed it "The Men's Club". Because of this history, we were fortunate that the building was left in it's original state, no one had done any remodeling in the 50's or 60's. But this also meant that electric, plumbing, insulation all needed to be updated.

Ours since 1985, the Inn was initially opened within 6 months, however renovations continue to meet the changing needs of our guests. From the large front porch to the parquet floors and leather wainscoting, we felt the home was ideally built for a B&B.

All rates include a full breakfast prepared by Mary-Jo, an experienced pastry chef.

There are 4 guest rooms on the 2nd floor.Each room has a large private bath, some with a lake view, jacuzzi or fireplace, and queen or king size beds. The entire third floor is dedicated to a beautiful master Suite with king size bed, bar with refrigerator, fireplace and 14-ft. vaulted ceiling. There is a sitting room with entertainment center and a nice panoramic view of the lake. The bathroom has a jacuzzi as well as a tiled shower and a separate dressing room.

McConnell Inn is conveniently located just a short walk to dining, shopping, the beach, parks and boat landings.

Green Lake is known as the oldest resort west of Niagra Falls, which means there is a long history of welcoming visitors to our community. If your interests are golfing, boating, biking, hiking, birding, you will find Green Lake ideal.
There 3 golf courses with a total of 81 holes within less than 5 miles. There are many scenic back-country roads for biking. Green Lake is the deepest inland lake in Wisconsin with more than 27 miles of shore. Whether you bring your own boat or rent, or maybe take a cruise on the lake on the "Escapade" excursion boat, you will certainly enjoy our pristeen waters. And with views of geese, sandhill cranes, blue heron and many types of duck, red-tailed hawks and eagles soaring, we are a birders paradise.

An Amish community is a short drive from Green Lake with furniture makers, a nationally recognized cheese maker, quilters, bakeries and greenhouses and an old-fashioned Amish store.

Green Lake also has many celebrations such as Summer Soltice, Chalk Art Festival, Wisconsin State Chili Cook-Off, Concerts in the Park summer series, Harvest Festival and Christmas by the Lake. Visit the calendar of events page on our web site for dates and details.
